There are cool ways to communicating without having to chat via other methods. There are lists of possibilities:
-commenting in Friend Roster;
This is the very common way to communicate than any other ways during playing SSBB. In order to understand clearly what you and they are saying, you have to focus on their comment updates, If they changed it, then you have to read it and reply it back. When they mentioned to continue speak without your turn to miss it, then you have to add like this: "..." in the ending to show them off that you or they are continue speaking. If you mentioned to finish your message, then do not add "..." in the end. Example:
- Player 1: "hey Player 2?"
- Player 2: "yes?"
- Player 1: "I wanna be Gano..."
- Player 1: "ndorf! who u be?"
- Player 2: "me 2, wanna Bra..."
- Player 2: "wl in 1 stock?"
- Player 1: "lol! we fight..."
- Player 1: "for be Ganondorf!"
- Player 2: "GODDAMN! get..."
- Player 2: "my ass off!"
- Player 1: "oh u stupid!..."
- Player 1: "I quit!"
(Player 1 quited and Player 2 is mad)

-nickname as words to chat during character selection:
This is very useful if you must tell players which team color you are in, to turn item selection off, how many stocks to set, and telling which character you will gonna use for next brawl. Sadly, you will have only 40 seconds left to spare time messaging in character selecion. If it run out, then you will have to wait for next character selection phase. Example:
- Player 1: "stock"
- Player 1: "7"
- Player 1: "and"
- Player 1: "high"
- Player 1: "ratio"
- Player 1: "mode"
- Player 1: "plz"
- Player 2: "sure"
- Player 2: "stage"
- Player 2: "final"
- Player 2: "Desti"
- Player 2: "?????"
- Player 1: "K"
- Player 1: "lol!!"
(time ran out, brawl started with told plans)
-comment via taunts in the brawl stage:
It's great for insulting other players and/or telling them something important. But you only have four comment maximum, use them wisely! Example:
(During BRAWL, Player 2 got killed by Player 1)
- Player 1: "what a dork :P"
- Player 2: "LULZ!"
(Player 1 killed by Player 2)
- Player 2: "Stupid monkey.
STUPID. ^_^"
- Player 1: "KUTABARE."
